Tölö Specialiseringsgymnasium

We designed Tölö Specialiseringsgymnasium’s brochure. Photography featured in the brochure by Ville Varumo. Our concept was a timeless travel into the inspiring school building which is a blend of old and new. Every picture is combined with a quote by a famous thinker. Intentionally, the pictures don’t feature any (living) people nor animals —apart from the headmaster, of course — because we wanted a feeling where the time has stopped and the viewer would feel a strong presence in the space.
Lastly, a beautiful quote featured in the brochure (which we also believe in and try to apply accordingly in everything we do): “Nothing is easy to the unwilling—Thomas Fuller” – which of course couldn’t be more true.

Not quite yet

We’ve been busy with a lot of client work, photoshoots, presentations and producing top-notch work so our anticipated update for our showcase has taken a lot more time than expected. That is why we boldly decided to bring this blog to everyones attention istead of our official site, because we think it just is more interesting to follow — this blog will develop with time and hopefully you readers will find increasing interest in us. In other words, we just try to live how we teach: Openness and Progressivity.
Below some highlights of our latest work. We will give you more in the incoming week and try to write some case studies too.

… clients above include La Torrefazione Cafe & Roastery, De Ungas Akademi, Tölö Specialiseringsgymnasium, Svensk Ungdom and Anton Sucksdorff. Please hold on, we’ll show you some more as soon as possible.

New studio blog
We’ve today completed a new layout for our studio blog (this blog). It should be more inspiring and easy to for us to write posts and keep you updated. The permalinks are still lacking and therefore it is impossible to link to single posts. And no commenting yet. Lets just say they’re upcoming features :)
There’s also been very interesting work for a company starting it’s subsidiary in Singapore. A bit more about that later.
Now it’s champagne time because it’s friday!

"To See a World in a Coffee Bean"

1. Svante Hampf welcomes the participants to the cupping event. He had something interesting to tell about every single coffee that we were about to taste.
2. Staircase wallpaper. La Torrefazione is on the 2nd floor at Aleksanteringkatu 50. The view to the street is really something.
3. Cupping is a social event.
Ok, so now it’s pretty much official. I hope you all have noticed something going on on Aleksanterinkatu 50 these past few weeks (right next to the construction work). For those of you who do not yet know about it, I’m going to break the news: The brand new café La Torrefazione with it’s own roastery are opening next Monday! The paint is fresh and so is the concept. This is the first miniature roastery and café in Helsinki. These tiny roasteries are a big thing in Stockholm, and I’m more than happy the concept travelled over seas.
Svante Hampf and Benjamin Andberg are the men behind Kaffa Roastery which has been a successful business for quite some time already. The new café enterprise is the work of Svante’s younger brother Jens Hampf. Roman Kolpaktsi is the head Barista and is also captain for the Finnish team of professional baristas. He makes really good lattes.
Today’s been special in the sense that E&S attended their first Cupping ever. The owners arranged a pre-launch cupping party. It was exciting! I never knew there was such a thing as ‘cupping’ until very recently. And I have to say it has its benefits. It’s much faster and more convenient than wine tasting. No spitting whatsoever. And it’s at least as exclusive and luxurious. Still not an expert on the fast and furious sucking technique needed for requiring all the aromas, but I’m getting there.
As I said before the café is opening next Monday, and those of you who are really into exclusive coffees are up for a real treat! There is a limited amount of something really special, so be sure to pay a visit before it’s sold out. I’m not going to tell you what it is exactly — don’t want to spoil the surprise. :)
E&S did the brand design for La Torrefazione and was a key player in designing the experience.

Anton Sucksdorff
Last week, we launched a new website for one of our favourite photographers — Anton Sucksdorff. The site has a custom built CMS (Content Management System) which enables Anton to upload assets to his portfolio and manage it independently through a simple web interface. Check it out

The project also included designing Anton’s business cards and other material such as a tape.
